Welfare Fraud Sweep Garners $61,663.45

(BINGHAMTON- NY) The Broome County Security Division Case Integrity Unit arrested twenty seven individuals on various charges of welfare fraud. In total, $61,663 was identified in the sweep. Many submitted false day care information and employment income. In 2008, the Case Integrity Unit identified, and recovered nearly 6 million dollars through the fraud detection program lead by the County Security Division.

 
“These tough economic times have forced many to seek assistance and we will continue to monitor those receiving such benefits to protect tax dollars and program integrity,” said Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala.
 
“These arrests serve as a reminder that we are vigilant in our efforts to protect taxpayer dollars from being distributed into the wrong hands,” Director of Broome County Security James D. Dadamio

3)      Jessica Archetto (DOB: 8/24/84) resides at: 5 Jay St. 2nd Fl. Binghamton 13901. Received an overpayment of $1,447.00 in Daycare benefits from November 2008 to February 2009 by submitting inaccurate daycare hours. Charged with Welfare Fraud – SSL 145.

Received an overpayment of $2,241.51 in Public Assistance benefits from January 2009 to March 2009 and May 2009 by failing to report income from employment of a household member. Charged with Welfare Fraud. – SSL 145.
3)      Zoe Honnick (DOB: 7/3/85) resides at: 16 Emmett St. Apt 2 Binghamton 13901. Received an overpayment of $1,916.00 in Daycare benefits from November 2008 to December 2008 by failing to report accurate household composition. Charged with Welfare Fraud – SSL 145.
